In 2013, BRHS completed a container that was sent to Hope Lives Aloi. This project, which required high school students to plan, construct, and fill a container, was able to create infrastructure for doctors in Uganda.
“The project really struck a chord with our students. They’re very community minded and socially based, but they’re not necessarily outside of Bridgewater. They’re students, they’re children, and they’re teenagers. This is an opportunity for them to look outside their local community and touch somebody on the other side of the world that they’ll probably never meet. But really make a difference in a lot of people’s lives” -Len Herman, Project Sponsor
The Hope Lives Elementary School opened its doors in 2013. Built through a partnership of New Covenant Christian Centre in Lira, Uganda, and Cheyenne Hills Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the school now educates more than 500 children from the preschool “Baby” class to the Primary 7 class. The teachers are well-qualified and experienced, and certified under Ugandan law, and the entire staff is committed to Hope Lives being the best school in northern Uganda. The school is a great success – 100% of Hope Lives Primary 7 students have passed Uganda’s national promotion exam for secondary education – a pass rate far better than most Ugandan schools.
